CUSTOM NECKLACES
A NECKLACE CONSIDERED
AROUND YOU
A necklace is considered not only for how it looks, but for where it rests, how it moves and how the pendant, chain and gemstone come together. Begin with what you know, and we will shape its proportion, construction and details with you personally.

NO COMPLETE BRIEF REQUIRED
BEGIN WITH
WHAT YOU KNOW
You do not need to arrive with every detail decided. A gemstone, a reference, a purpose or simply how you would like the necklace to feel can be enough to begin.
01
A GEMSTONE
Begin with a Sookjai gemstone or one you already own. Its colour, shape, dimensions and character may become the centre of a pendant or the beginning of a wider necklace composition. A customer-owned gemstone will be assessed before its setting and construction are confirmed.
02
A REFERENCE
Share a photograph or an existing necklace that expresses the direction you like. It may guide the proportion, placement, chain or overall feeling without limiting your necklace to an exact interpretation.
03
A PURPOSE
The necklace may be intended for everyday wear, a gift, a particular occasion or a meaningful milestone. How and where it will be worn helps us consider its length, weight, movement and fastening.
04
A PERSONAL DETAIL
A name, engraving, charm or another meaningful detail may become part of the design. You may also begin with the idea of a pendant that can be removed or worn with different chains, and we will consider the appropriate construction with you.

LENGTH, PENDANT SCALE AND PLACEMENT ARE CONSIDERED TOGETHER AROUND THE PERSON WEARING THE NECKLACE.
LENGTH, PLACEMENT & PROPORTION
WHERE THE NECKLACE
COMES TO REST
The length of a necklace influences where it rests, how the pendant is presented and how the piece relates to the person wearing it. We will consider the proportion with you rather than limiting the design to a fixed convention.
01
CLOSE TO THE NECK
APPROX. 12–14 IN · 30.5–35.5 CM
A closer length creates a defined presence around the neckline. Because the fit is more precise, the circumference of the neck, the construction of the necklace and any available adjustment are considered together.
02
AROUND THE COLLARBONE
APPROX. 14–18 IN · 35.5–45.5 CM
This versatile range allows a pendant to rest near the collarbone and work with many necklines. An adjustable construction may be considered when you would like the necklace to sit at more than one position.
03
BELOW THE COLLARBONE
APPROX. 20–42 IN · 51–107 CM
A longer necklace can create a more relaxed line, carry a larger composition or be worn as a statement. The scale and weight of the pendant, the strength of the chain and whether the necklace may be layered or doubled are considered together.
FORM & POSSIBILITY
MORE THAN
ONE WAY TO WEAR IT
A necklace may be developed as a complete composition, as a pendant considered with its chain or as a personal element designed to move between different chains. The appropriate form depends on how you would like the piece to look, feel and be worn.
01
A COMPLETE
NECKLACE
The pendant, chain, length and fastening may be developed together as one composition. Their proportions and construction are considered as a whole so that the necklace feels visually balanced and sits as intended when worn.
02
A PENDANT WITH
ITS CHAIN
A pendant may be created around a gemstone, symbol or personal detail and paired with a suitable chain. The pendant weight, bail, chain strength and intended placement are considered together before the design is confirmed.
03
AN INTERCHANGEABLE
PENDANT
A pendant may also be designed to move between different chains when its construction allows. The opening, bail and chain dimensions must be considered carefully, and we will assess which interchangeable approach is appropriate for the design.
CONSIDERED TOGETHER
These are possible ways to develop the piece rather than fixed categories. A custom necklace may combine elements from more than one direction, and we will explain what is practical for the gemstone, proportion and intended use.
CHAIN, MOVEMENT & FASTENING
HOW THE NECKLACE
COMES TOGETHER
The chain, pendant and fastening are considered as one construction. Their proportions, strength and movement are developed around the gemstone, the intended placement and the way the necklace will be worn.
01
THE CHAIN &
ITS PROPORTION
A chain may be selected from an existing style or developed specifically for the piece. Its width, link structure and visual presence are considered in relation to the pendant so that neither element feels disconnected from the other.
02
WEIGHT &
BALANCE
The weight and centre of gravity of the pendant influence how the necklace rests. A larger gemstone may require a stronger chain, a more substantial bail or an adjusted length to help the piece remain balanced rather than turn or tilt when worn.
03
THE BAIL &
CONNECTION
The bail or connecting element must allow the pendant to move naturally while supporting its weight. Its opening is considered together with the chain dimensions, particularly when the pendant is intended to be removable or worn with different chains.
04
A SECURE
FASTENING
The clasp is selected around the necklace’s weight, material and intended use. Lobster clasps, secure snap or barrel mechanisms and soldered connecting rings may be considered according to what best supports the finished piece.
DEVELOPED
AS ONE
AS ONE
The pendant, chain, connecting rings and fastening are reviewed together before the design is confirmed. Where a different construction would improve balance, security or ease of wear, we will explain the recommendation personally.
CONSIDERED AROUND THE GEMSTONE
PROTECTED IN THE WAY
IT WILL BE WORN
A necklace is generally protected from the repeated impact experienced by rings or bracelets, but its movement, contact with clothing and the weight of the pendant create different considerations. The setting is developed around the gemstone and the way the necklace will be worn.
01
DELICATE
GEMSTONES
A softer or more delicate gemstone may benefit from a protective setting, such as a bezel or a more contained construction. This helps protect its edges while reducing unnecessary contact with clothing and surrounding surfaces.
02
SIZE, WEIGHT
& BALANCE
A larger gemstone influences the weight and centre of gravity of the pendant. The setting, bail and chain are therefore considered together so that the necklace remains supported, rests as intended and does not feel unnecessarily heavy around the neck.
03
POINTS &
EXPOSED AREAS
Pointed corners and vulnerable edges require considered support. Protective edges, V-prongs or a more enclosed setting may be recommended to reduce catching and direct contact while preserving the intended outline of the gemstone.

THE SETTING, PENDANT WEIGHT AND CHAIN ARE CONSIDERED TOGETHER AROUND THE CHARACTER OF THE GEMSTONE.
MATERIALS & PERSONAL DETAILS
THE CHARACTER
OF THE NECKLACE
Material, colour, finish and construction influence not only how a necklace appears, but also its weight, movement and how it rests when worn. We will help consider a combination that supports the pendant, chain, gemstones and intended use.
01
SILVER 925
REFINED · ACCESSIBLE
Silver offers an accessible way to begin a custom necklace or pendant. It can be well suited to lighter chains and selected designs, while a substantial pendant, frequent wear or an intricate construction may require additional consideration around strength, fastening and the durability of the chosen finish.
02
GOLD
9K · 14K · 18K
YELLOW · WHITE · ROSE
YELLOW · WHITE · ROSE
Gold allows a necklace to be considered across different colours, compositions and levels of strength. The appropriate option depends on the pendant, chain construction, gemstone weight and how regularly the piece is intended to be worn.
03
PLATINUM
DENSE · NATURALLY WHITE
Platinum has a naturally white appearance and a substantial feel. Its suitability is considered together with the scale of the necklace, the chain construction and the expected weight of the pendant so that the finished piece remains balanced and comfortable.
A PERSONAL DETAIL
MADE MEANINGFUL
TO YOU
A necklace may carry a name, engraving, charm, symbol or another detail with personal meaning. A pendant may also be designed to move between suitable chains, allowing the piece to be worn in more than one way. These elements are considered from the beginning so that they feel integral to the necklace rather than added afterwards.
